Description

We are looking for a full time project trainee to help develop new sites in Romney Marsh.

Your primary role will be to undertake bumblebee and wildflower surveys, engage with farmers and other land owners, do habitat management work with volunteers, and conduct outreach activities.

This position is part of the ‘Green Lanes’ Project of The Fifth Continent Scheme. This is an initiative by the Romney Marsh Living Landscape Partnership which has Heritage Lottery Funding for habitat improvements, community engagement opportunities and training programmes for the people and wildlife of the Romney Marsh area. Kent Wildlife Trust is leading on the Scheme.

You will be self-motivated, hardworking, physically fit and practical with the ability to prioritise time on the essentials of a task.
You need to be out going, confident, with good communication skills and work well within a team. You will have a degree in a relevant subject, hold a drivers licence, have experienced being or working with volunteers and have expertise of Microsoft Word and a statistical package.
Some experience in wild flower and bumblebee identification, GIS and report writing experience, as well as knowledge of health and safety procedures, would be an advantage.

This is a full-time (35 hours), fixed term (20 weeks) position based at home and in the field in Romney Marsh.
