The Short Group Walks Scheme Officer acts as a link between the national team and local Walking for Health schemes providing support to enable a consistent local offer of short group health walks.

They support Walking for Health schemes to maintain an agreed quality standard. They will provide support for the schemes through a period of change and ensure the schemes fully understand what is happening and the benefits to them.

Short Group Walks Scheme Officers will act as advocates for the future of the programme and as Brand ambassadors for the Ramblers.

Essential Requirements include:
1. Excellent communication skills to communicate consistent messages and gain commitment from schemes.
2. Ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
3. Ability to diagnose problems, provide innovative solutions and make logical, timely decisions.
4. Excellent presentation skills, experience of delivering workshops and training.
5. A good understanding of volunteers and experiencing of supporting volunteers.
6. Experience of project compliance and delivering a public health/physical activity programme.
7. Knowledge of public health/physical activity policy, local authority and NHS structures and processes.
8. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, self managing workloads.
9. Ability to travel across England, spending nights away from home.
