The ShoreZone Coordinator provides full-time administrative and project management support for the Alaska ShoreZone Partnership to expand imagery and mapping to the Aleutian Islands, the Alaska Peninsula and Western and Arctic Alaska. The coordinator will work closely with the public and local, state, and federal entities to advance the collection of data, distribution of information to the public and training on the use of the data in expanded areas along Alaska’s coast. The position is grant-dependent with current funding for approximately two years.
The coordinator will facilitate communications among multiple agencies to make large amounts of imagery and mapping available to the public. The coordinator will fundraise, manage contracts and coordinate complicated logistics among multiple partners to carry out remote aerial surveys. Specific deliverables include: coordinating bi-monthly conference calls for ShoreZone partners steering committee; organizing annual meetings for the 20 member partnership; drafting annual plans; developing outreach and training materials; conducting training sessions for current and potential ShoreZone users; maintaining the ShoreZone website; seeking new partnerships and funding opportunities; and providing logistical support for field activities. May include collecting, assembling and analyzing various types of data, in the field or through document surveys, producing maps using GIS software and assisting in the production of reports. Work may be done in the field or be based entirely in an office setting, compiling the information collected by others.
