NRDC seeks to hire a full time advocate to join our oceans team in the San Francisco office. We seek an attorney, biologist, or marine policy expert with a masters degree, Ph.D. or JD—preferably with a marine science and/or fisheries background—and 5 to 10 years of experience in resource protection or advocacy.  NRDC’s Ocean Initiative uses policy advocacy, litigation, and biological and economic analysis to improve ocean protection and promote sustainable fisheries. Our San Francisco team focuses on west coast ocean issues and, to a lesser degree, on national issues. The position involves policy analysis, advocating for sound ocean and fisheries management before government bodies and working with conservation partners, fishing communities, scientists and other interests to promote sustainable fisheries and healthy oceans. The successful candidate will be an effective advocate who can master highly technical issues, integrate the tools of conservation and science or law, and act creatively to achieve our goals.
