Description

Our community garden in the north east of Glasgow is now going into its 3rd growing season.
 
We are looking to recruit a community gardener on a sessional basis, initially to provide holiday cover. There is the potential for further hours for events, additional activities and as the community garden evolves.
 
Whilst this is a sessional role the plan would be for the successful candidate to become a part of the team working to encourage local people to live more sustainable lives and empowering them to do so.
 
Job Description
 
• To maintain the garden: weeding, watering, planting, harvesting and planning as required

• To run 2 community garden workshops per week in the holiday absence of the Urban Growing and Community Development Worker

• To support and guide any volunteers and participants at the community garden workshops

• To create a welcoming, inclusive environment in the community garden 

• To maintain a diary of all activities 
 
Skills/ Experience
 
• Enthusiastic, knowledgeable gardener

• A passion for sustainable gardening 

• Sound previous experience of community garden workshop planning and delivery

• Sound previous experience of working with volunteers and participants from a wide range of backgrounds 

• Strong communication skills

• Sound previous experience of taking a supportive and empowering approach to community development
 
Terms/ Conditions
 
Hours of Work: up to 6 hours per week as agreed between employer and successful applicant.
