Role Summary/Purpose: Senior Wind Materials and processes engineer responsible for composite materials used in GE Wind energy products. In this role you will:
Essential Responsibilities - Be the technical expert for glass and carbon fiber epoxy composite structures. Provide expertise on the capability and use of various composite systems in Wind components
- Execute research and development programs on materials and processes that provide value for new Wind energy product introductions. Create program plans, execute trials, and document technical findings for design reviews that validate the new technology is fit for GE Energy products
- Lead qualification and development efforts for GE Energy wind turbine blade materials and processes for use in production
- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver qualified wind turbine blade components to meet production fulfillment schedules
- Perform root cause and corrective action analyses to trouble shoot problems with current designs and manufacturing processes
- Reduce cost through selection of new processing methods and alternate materials
- Control quality of components by creation, revision, and communication of specifications requirements to external suppliers
Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering or related Engineering field
- Minimum of Eight years materials or process engineering experience

Desired Characteristics - Flexibility in handling a diverse and challenging workload
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Advanced Degree in Materials Engineering or related field
- Experience working with glass and/or carbon fiber epoxy composites
- Experience in the Wind power generation industry
- Six Sigma Black Belt / Green Belt certification (GE employees only)
- Experience working with domestic and global vendors
- Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes
