Major Duties

DNV Renewables (USA) Inc. is seeking a Senior Due Diligence Consultant for our Seattle, Houston, or Boston offices. This position supports the Due Diligence team’s broad range of activities, with a focus on providing independent engineering reports to clients for evaluating acquisitions of, or investments in, utility-scale wind power projects.

Primary activities include project management; critical review of technical reports, contracts, agreements, and financial models; risk assessment; and risk mitigation. The position requires substantial coordination of work with other groups both internal and external to DNV, and the ability to independently assess the work of others. Activities will include writing reports and giving presentations to clients, owners, lenders, and equity investors as well as at industry conferences.

If you have six years of related work experience and are passionate about renewable energy, then we would like to hear from you!

• Evaluate feasibility of projects from a variety of perspectives (for example, location, wind resource, turbine selection, turbine layout, cost)
• Review and assess technical risk in commercial contracts
• Evaluate financial models, including basis and reasonableness of key inputs
• Visit and evaluate operating and proposed wind power facilities
• Effectively communicate with clients on the impacts of various terms and risks of the contracts and conditions.
• Work collaboratively across departments, coordinating input from other team members for use in reports
• Build and develop client relationships
• Provide timely client communications
• Present, and in some cases defend, findings to clients
• Participate in and contribute to industry events
• Prepare proposals to address client needs
• Manage project cost and schedule
• Share knowledge and best practice across DNV units

• Engineering degree (Bachelor's degree or higher) in a relevant discipline strongly preferred – relevant work experience may substitute
• MBA in addition to the Engineering degree is a plus but not a requirement
• At least six years of relevant work experience, including direct experience in project development, feasibility assessment, or due diligence to support further project development, financing, mergers/acquisitions, or direct investment. Wind energy experience is preferred. However, other relevant experience from the power generation industry could compensate for lack of wind energy experience. Consulting experience, or experience managing the work of consultants, is preferred.

• Ability to combine assessments of various risk elements at a wind energy project into a holistic appraisal of the overall risk profile relevant to a potential participant based on their role (e.g. debt vs. equity).
• Ability to read, understand and critically review:
• Commercial agreements
• Wind resource assessment reports
• Other technical reports associated with wind power projects
• Ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and be adaptable to changing priorities
• Self motivated, with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively and professionally with diverse people – clients, vendors, and co-workers
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
• Accountable for individual tasks and projects while also able to work well in a team environment
• Valid driver’s license
• Interest in and ability to travel for periods of up to one to two weeks at a time, domestically or internationally

• Normal office environment with moderate noise levels, occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing and reaching.
• Ability to perform consistent work on a PC.
• Physical ability to safely climb towers up to 350 feet in height and work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Regular (typically less than 25% of work time) domestic and international travel to client sites and offices required. Occasional travel to conferences.
