This is an exciting opportunity to manage a highly motivated team of Natural Capital Senior Advisors. Your leadership will uphold a supportive and inclusive environment, enabling your team to shape and deliver a natural capital approach in the Environment Agency, ensuring nature’s contributions to people and the economy are recognised and valued, helping to reverse the decline in nature and tackle the climate and biodiversity emergencies.

Your role with us

You will join the Natural Capital Team, based in the Chief Scientist’s Group which co-ordinates and leads the Environment Agency's work on natural capital. We develop and embed natural capital evidence and tools into operational delivery and build staff capability and confidence to take a natural capital approach.

You will:

• Use your excellent interpersonal skills to support, coach and develop your team of technical specialists.
• Advocate for a natural capital approach with colleagues across the business and external partners to identify and develop opportunities to embed natural capital thinking.
• Provide programme and project management support to internal and external projects so they are delivered to time and budget requirements and are collaborative and evidence-led.

About You

We are looking for a team leader who can work at pace, has the curiosity to learn about the innovative work we do, and can support the full range of professional development and wellbeing needs of the team.

Desirable experience and skills:

• Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, and actively create an inclusive culture.
• Team focused, with excellent communication, advocacy, diplomacy and influencing skills.
• Organised and flexible, with strong planning and project management skills.
• Strong programme and project management experience with the ability to manage budgets and resources in an agile manner.
• Understanding and experience of environmental evidence and project planning (desirable but not essential).
