Senior Sustainability Consultant (Forestry), Asia

My client is a specialist sustainability consultancy with offices around the world. They are currently looking to hire a senior sustainability consultant with particular experience in REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) and focus in forestry. The role will involve consulting c-level clients on the future deforestation and afforestation strategies with a view of developing large projects with the World Bank forestry fund. The role requires an individual with varied yet lengthy experience in forestation and can therefore work with all project aspects from financial structuring to bid preparation. The ideal candidate will be able to organise and coordinate the efforts of a variety of individuals working in different departments to ensure that all current projects are progressing in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities will include but not be restricted to:

• Working with board-level representatives of prominent clients to develop project plans and funding strategies
• Coordinating pre-project research efforts to ensure that the correct information is gathered before project can begin
• Constantly liaising with project director to ensure that project plans evolve as required and that project is delivered on time
• Developing strategy proposals for upcoming projects while consulting other project directors on their current projects to ensure that these projects are also evolving as desired
• Feeding back to my client’s MD on all projects regarding time scales and project developments

Requirements:

• Extensive REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) experience, especially in Asia
• 5+ years experience in forestry.
• Project development experience
• Deep interest in the development of large scale forestry projects in Asia and Europe
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
