Role Summary/Purpose: The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer - Wind Fabrications will collaborate with Wind Engineering, Services, Project Management, Field Service team, and GE Energy Global Sourcing team on all activity required to effectively manage sourcing quality requirements & supplier development across fabricated components. In this role, you will:
Essential Responsibilities - Conduct Fabrication Supplier Component Qualifications 
- Perform Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Supplier Process Qualifications 
- Perform Surveillance Audits on Supplier Quality Management System, Products And Processes 
- Assess Supplier Fabrication Capability for Supplier Approval and Assist the Supplier Approval Team 
- Perform Root Cause Analysis on Quality Issues to Define and Request Corrective and Preventive Actions 
- Work with Design & Materials Engineering and the Global Sourcing Quality team in implement process improvement, incorporating key quality parameters and Critical to Quality characteristics 
- Perform process capability evaluation to drive reduction in defects and cost of failure at Fabrication Suppliers
Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil 
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Welding Fabrication, heavy manufacturing, Quality Assurance or Supplier Quality

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 

- Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% of the time, as required 
- Ability and willingness to work in a heavy manufacturing environment 
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
Desired Characteristics - ASNT Level III in UT, RT, PT and MT 
- Knowledge of machining practices and familiarity with machine tools, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) setup, tooling, cutters, taps, inserts, optical tools and calibration processes 
- Knowledge of NEC NFPA-70, UL / CSA and CE codes for Electrical Compliance 
- Knowledge of corrosion coating preparation and protection processes 
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Standard 
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple qualification projects and work with diverse teams to qualify suppliers and improve their performance 
- Demonstrated ability in reviewing and approving weld documentation according to American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), AWS, EN, and DIN welding standards 
- Demonstrated understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, DIN / EN, ISO or ASTM material standards 
- Experience in weld procedure qualification for CS, SS, low / high alloy materials 
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Welding Fabrication Industry 
- Expertise in fabrication techniques, distortion control, fixturing and positioning of weldments 
- Expertise in weld inspections, measurement equipment and calibration 
- Certified Welding Inspector
