Description

The primary focus for the Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager is to increase the support for the MSC program across a broad range of stakeholders and promoting the MSC concept and certification program to fishing companies. The Manager will also support the Program Director in representing the MSC program to senior stakeholders across the Baltic Sea and Scandinavia region.

The Manager is responsible for conducting, coordinating and overseing outreach and providing support to fisheries stakeholders in the MSC program in Scandinavia and the Baltic Region. This will include conducting training on the MSC program and assisting fisheries and associated stakeholders (relevant governmental and research institutions, and NGOs) in each stage of the MSC’s fisheries assessment process and after certification.

Working with the MSC’s communications and marketing teams the Manager will also be involved in the development of promotional and training material for fisheries and of webpages dedicated to fisheries, as well as making linkages between supply and demand points in supply chains.

Additional tasks include doing research and analysis on certified fisheries globally and the Scandinavian fishing sector, understanding target fisheries and their links with supply chain companies, provide support to fisheries stakeholders as well as briefing the MSC teams in Scandinavia and elsewhere on questions relating to fisheries in the region.

The job holder will be part of the MSC’s Scandinavia and Baltic Sea Region team and will participate in the collective strategic planning and development of the organization in the region.

Qualifications

The applicant should have: 

  • A relevant postgraduate degree in fisheries science or fisheries management 
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in fisheries management, supply chain, research or advocacy. 
  • A demonstrated knowledge of fisheries and resource sustainability issues, particularly as they relate to wild capture fisheries and/or the seafood industry

Knowledge of MSC Standards and a network in seafood supply chains is also an advantage.
