Overall Function For over a decade, Environmental Defense Fund has worked to promote and implement ecological and economic improvements in fishery management around the country. The Oceans Program works to find constructive solutions to the most critical problems threatening the world's marine environments. Our Oceans Program focuses on safeguarding marine ecosystems and fisheries in the U.S and around the world. We are now seeking a Senior Specialist who will manage, coordinate, and implement our fisheries management reform strategy in the U.S. Northeast, including recreational fisheries management. The Senior Specialist will be a principal player in achieving the program’s fisheries goals for the U.S Northeast region. This will involve developing and implementing program strategies, coordinating consultants and team members to meet project objectives and milestones, communicating with a broad diversity of influential stakeholders and helping to develop and implement novel science and policy tools. This position can be based in either our Boston, MA or Washington, DC office, and will report to the Oceans Program’s Northeast Regional Director. Frequent travel throughout the U.S. Northeast, from Maine to Virginia, is required. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Senior Specialist will perform the following and other duties as assigned:
