Description

My client is amongst  the leading renewable energy providers globally, and have a very strong business plan and balance sheet. They a specialize in the manufacturing of crystalline silicon modules and are also a leading residential, commercial and utility-scale solar PV developer with a strong market presence in Europe, USA and the Asia-Pacific regions. They are looking to recruit a Senior PV Module Scientist. The Senior PV Module Scientist will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the connectivity of the product, upstream and downstream of the assembly process, will remain robust meeting or exceeding current warranty requirements. The Senior PV Module Scientist will ensure all designs will meet or exceed current safety and performance standards.

Core Criteria:
The PV Module Scientist will identify new technological opportunities for their products that improve performance, improve lifetime value, minimize degradation of performance over product lifetime and reduce product cost. The PV Module Scientist will model from first principles, design experiments to validate modeling, and prove the hypothesis by prototyping products. The purpose of the position is maximize the output of the module by reducing optical, electrical, and thermal losses through innovation and successfully bring these innovations into their products. The gains will be determined successful through reduced LCOE and maximizing the product lifetime value for the customer. Identifying a clear path to the market and incorporating the improvements into the Product Road Map is also a very important aspect of the position.

Responsibilities:-

  • ·         PV circuit theory and electrical design plus associated system performance
  • ·         Encapsulation technologies and processes with special emphasis on back contact cell encapsulations
  • ·         Knowledge of all loss mechanisms in the PV module (electrical, optical and thermal) and how to quantify them
  • ·         Cell interconnection techniques for current and future cell designs with special emphasis on back contact cell encapsulations
  • ·         Cable optimization for cost reduction and design efficiency
  • ·         Circuit protection methods including conventional by-pass diode optimization and alternative methods
  • ·         All module integrated electronics for advanced power control and conditioning
  • ·         Act as SPA from appraise stage of projects to define stage when the product is handed over to Product Engineering
