Description

At the heart of England, Northamptonshire has some amazing wildlife and with wetland SPA and international RAMSAR recognition of the Nene Valley plus ancient woodland in Rockingham Forest we are proud to manage some of these great areas.

We're looking for someone who knows wildlife and enjoys managing teams to make a difference in a setting like this. As a Senior Reserves Manager you'll coordinate the management of our nature reserves for wildlife and people you will be able to demonstrate the ability to make decisions based on sound science, plan well and work effectively.

You will take the day-to-day lead in the management and development of the Wildlife Trust’s nature reserves in Northamptonshire as per the Trust’s development plan and policies, and all statutory and funder obligations.

Working closely with the Conservation Manager and other senior staff of the Trust, you will assist in identifying potential new reserves, reserve extensions and linkages, innovative sources of funding and creative forms of communication and interpretation to help realise our evolving ambitions to generate Living Landscapes for wildlife and people.

You will ensure high quality habitat management and visitor infrastructure continue to be delivered on our nature reserves by our reserves team.  This will involve working with the Grazing Manager to deploy livestock across the county. The Senior Reserves Manager is responsible for a team of 11 staff, with 5 direct reports. The post holder will be required to plan and evaluate management, co-ordinate with the monitoring and recording team, manage a delegated budget and provide support for income generation to support the Trust’s conservation activity.
