The Natural Resources Group aims to promote sustainable governance of natural resources by building capacity and promoting informed decision-making in communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Our priority is on local control and management of natural resources and other ecosystem services, and on the necessary changes needed in national and international government to make this happen.
Summary of Role
The primary function of the post is to lead a new project on social assessment of conservation initiatives and to develop, manage, implement and promote a programme of research on social dimensions of biodiversity conservation. The postholder will design, coordinate and conduct a coherent programme of research and policy outreach, with IIED colleagues and partners internationally and in key countries.
To succeed in this role you must have a post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g. environmental economics, rural sociology, political science, etc.; extensive field-based experience of developing and applying livelihood / poverty / resilience assessment methodologies; and experience of working on social aspects of natural resource management related issues in Africa, Asia and/or Latin America.
