The Division of Illinois State Water Survey within the Institute of Natural Resource Sustainability at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking a full-time Senior Research Climatologist. The primary function of the position will be to develop a research program focused on climatological processes or impacts of climate variations and change, particularly in the US Midwest and the nation. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences or related field with emphasis on climate sciences. Successful record of publications in refereed scientific journals and securing external funding for research activities. Ability to work productively with peers within the scientific community, particularly in collaborative and multidisciplinary research, as well as managing the research activities of support staff and students. Demonstrated ability to initiate projects on emerging scientific issues. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications: A strong statistical background, particularly as applied to climate or impacts data (observations and model-generated), scale interactions, or impacts, is highly preferred.
