ForestEthics is launching an initiative to deepen and strengthen our network of highly engaged donors, visionary thinkers, entrepreneurs and environmental leaders. Our current team and this expanded network will provide the capacity and resources that will fuel a scale up of our programmatic scope and organizational effectiveness. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with ForestEthics’ leaders, the Senior Relationship Manger (SRM) will be responsible for the oversight, coordination and strategy development for the cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of individuals, with a special focus on major donors. This is a full-time position. Compensation for the SRM includes an excellent package of employee and health benefits and a competitive salary (range is $50k to $70k, commensurate with experience and regional cost of living). This position will be headquartered in our Bellingham, WA office or elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest (Portland, OR; Seattle, WA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction that will inspire and support ForestEthics staff and Board members to successfully expand our network of individual investors and supporters
  • Lead the development and execution of a strategic plan for expansion of our network with a goal of multi-year growth of revenue generated from individual donors at all levels
  • Actively facilitate the work of the Board of Directors to maximize the talent and resources of its members
  • Manage a personal relationship portfolio and track/monitor portfolios for Board members and senior staff
  • Develop and coordinate highly innovative cultivation, stewardship and solicitation strategies
  • Research, plan and execute all aspects of ForestEthics’ donor trips to the Great Bear Rainforest and other priority destinations as well as content-focused dinners and special events (budget creation, timelines, team coordination and deliverables)
  • Conduct detailed research on select donors and prospects and create briefing documents in advance of meetings and events
  • Work collaboratively with the ForestEthics’ communications team to create customized marketing materials and supporting documents that reflect the objectives of the organization and the interests of investors and prospects

 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 5 years of major gifts and relationship building experience, with direct solicitation of high-level individual donors
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with track record of building and sustaining relationships (with donors, Board members, volunteers, and staff)
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Familiarity with social networking platforms desirable (facebook, twitter)
  • Confident public speaker
  • Highly organized with a track-record of implementing and utilizing effective fundraising systems (Moves Management, relational databases, experience with SalesForce preferred)
  • Passionate about creating the systems necessary to strengthen and deepen existing and new relationships
  • Strategic thinker and planner
  • Ability to speak about ForestEthics’ work articulately and with passion, commitment and respect
  • Understanding of non-profit organizations and the flexibility required to effectively participate in an inclusive model of decision making

  • Highly motivated and able to self-manage and produce results working from a remote/home office setting (if not in Bellingham, WA)

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Clear vision at 25 inches or less to view computer screen and read documents
  • Must be able to sit at desk and work on a computer for long periods of time
  • May have to climb stairs to reach office
  • Working conditions typical of an office environment
  • Exposure to moderate levels of noise such as computers, printers, light traffic
