Description

Based in Paris, she/he will integrate the climate change unit of ONF International presently in full development. She/he will have 3 main tasks: 

  • To support Governments in elaborating and implementing their national REDD+ strategies or to support project developers in designing and implementing their REDD+ projects
  • To follow climate REDD+ negotiations and funding initiatives or programmes in the area
  • To watch over scientific and strategic aspects related to the development of soil carbon sequestration projects and to support the designing and implementation of such projects 

She/he will organise the responses to the call for bids related to the above issues and she/he will manage a portfolio of national programmes and projects. She/he will bring to the 10-expert team her/his field experiences in term of rural development and management of natural resources in developing countries. She/he will be frequently on mission to quick-start of monitor field activities, in support to Governments or projects developers.

Limited contract that could evolve into a permanent one. Position opening: 1st of May 2010

Profile

  • MSc or PhD in agronomy and/or forestry and/or economics of development
  • Creativity, strong sense of initiatives, multivalent and autonomous
  • Excellent relational skills and able to work collaboratively in a cross-cultural team environment
  • Able to do frequent missions abroad
  • Fluent in English and/or Spanish, good level in French
  • At least 10 years of field experiences in rural development or management of natural resources
  • Knowledge of forest/soil carbon and a good network of experts in these areas are bonus
  • Priority will be given to English or Spanish native speakers from developing countries
