SENIOR RANGER - Environmental Protection Agency, Great Sandy Region, Queensland.
The Senior Ranger will coordinate and develop asset management projects in the Great Sandy Region to ensure the effective management of the protected area estate:

  • Coordinate and undertake planning, development and implementation of activities related to asset management as well as provide concise, accurate and timely reports and correspondence as required and as situations demand.
  • Plan, co-ordinate and review infrastructure development and maintenance, and natural and cultural resource projects.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant legislation by managing the statutory responsibilities associated with the implementation of agency programs.
  • Advise on and manage environmental issues which include assessing the impact of natural and human-related changes to parks and conservation reserves within the region. Co-ordinate the implementation of natural resource monitoring and protection programs both within and beyond protected areas.
  • Establish and maintain effective liaison with external stakeholders including the general community, industry groups, conservation groups, neighbours, trustees, lessees, commercial operators, tourism organisations, volunteers, indigenous people and groups, and local, State and Commonwealth government departments.
  • Facilitate an awareness, appreciation and understanding of all aspects of natural and cultural resource conservation by planning and developing effective recreational and interpretive strategies and programs.

    Job Skill Requirement
  • (Critical) Demonstrated ability to manage projects and lead and manage teams.
  • (Critical) Sound knowledge of protected area management practices including issues related to asset management, recreation and commercial activities, and world heritage estate.
  • (Highly Desirable) Demonstrated sound analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • (Highly Desirable) Demonstrated sound communication, consultation, negotiation and liaison skills and skills in providing advice.
