We are looking for a motivated and technically experienced Senior Programme Officer to work in the Business and Biodiversity programme. The programme aims to bring high quality biodiversity data and information into the heart of private sector decision-making, and in doing so aims to enable more, and more effective, conservation of biodiversity worldwide.  The programme is now set to expand in scope and reach, building on its unique, decade old successful partnership with the extractive industry – Proteus - and a track record of delivering high quality research outputs to expand to other sectors and enhance it’s work with the private sector.

This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the development, resourcing and delivery of a new portfolio of projects that contribute towards an evolving global agenda. The role will lead the evolution and implementation of methodologies for avoiding, minimising, mitigating and compensating for the impact of the private sector on biodiversity and ecosystem services.   The role requires close liaison with the other teams within UNEP-WCMC, many of which are working at the cutting edge of biodiversity conservation and informatics.

You will be a strategic and innovative thinker with an established credibility with the private sector and a track record of developing new ideas, securing funding and managing projects to deliver strong outcomes.  You will have a passion for, and track record of, engaging constructively with the private sector to deliver positive social and environmental outcomes, based on sound science.  An outstanding collaborator with strong technical skills, you will be able to build on your existing networks  and develop new relationships to create new areas of work for UNEP-WCMC, guide the delivery of existing programmes and further the specialist knowledge base that underpins the organisation’s business engagement.

We will provide you with the chance to work with like-minded individuals, in an environment that supports your technical and personal skills development. The Centre staff are experienced, ambitious and results-orientated, providing an excellent environment to develop and contribute your own skills. In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can impress us with your creativity, technical expertise, project development, fundraising and partnership management capabilities, we want to hear from you. Please complete our application form and send it together with your CV and a short covering letter through the link on our website at http://www.unep-wcmc.org/vacancies/senior-programme-officer-ad906 by 2nd September 2015.

Please note that this is not a UN post.
