Description

We are looking for a motivated and technically experienced Senior Programme Officer to work in our Conventions and Policy Support programme. Through good external relations with the secretariats of Multilateral Environmental Agreements, and through strong internal relations with other programmes, the Conventions and Policy Support team aim to support, facilitate, develop and communicate the Centre’s comprehensive engagement with intergovernmental processes and their implementation at all levels.

You will make a substantial contribution to the development and implementation of the Centre’s growing body of work in support of Multilateral Environmental Agreements. Working within an international arena, you will manage partner relationships to understand their needs and priorities, and lead and as appropriate facilitate the development of new projects and new areas of work. The role will include leading and working on a range of initiatives across programmes across the Centre, and liaison with colleagues across UNEP and in the MEA secretariats.

This role will involve extensive international networking and collaboration within an engaging team environment. The programme, with its experienced, ambitious and results-oriented staff, provides an excellent environment to develop and contribute to your own skills as well as mentoring the development of others. We will provide you with the chance to apply your awareness and strategic understanding of parts of the international policy arena, and to further develop your project and people management and technical skills. In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post, enjoy working in collaboration with others and have relevant expertise with good people and/or project management skills, we want to hear from you. Please complete a WCMC application form and send it with a CV and a short covering letter to recruitment@unep-wcmc.org by 26th September 2014.

Please note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.
