BirdLife International is a global Partnership of NGOs working together for bird and biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. We are seeking to recruit an experienced individual to develop and manage a thematic global and multi-regional programme of work on migratory birds based at the BirdLife Secretariat in Cambridge. The post-holder will lead on the planning, design and fundraising for new global and multi-regional projects on flyways, support regional divisions in the management of future projects and contribute within the Conservation Department to the process of developing standards and best practice in project management and conservation effectiveness. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Conservation Department, you will liaise and build relationships with supporters of the BirdLife Flyways Programme and represent BirdLife Flyways work at high-level international and donor meetings.
The ideal candidate will have * Relevant degree-level qualification * Extensive experience in conservation and/or development work, including involvement in conservation and sustainable development projects * Senior programme/project management skills and experience * Experience of working with governments and the private sector on policy and strategic planning issues. * Experience of managing large, complex budgets * Strong organisational and planning skills, and proven ability to adhere to deadlines. * Clear oral and written presentation skills. * Strong negotiation, partnership and consensus building skills * High degree of cultural sensitivity * Willingness to travel internationally on short or medium term trips
Fluency in English is essential and in other languages (especially Arabic and French) advantageous.
