The Senior Program Officer leads a program team and is responsible for the design, development and implementation of the American Society of Adaptation Professionals as an ISC project. The position is currently grant funded for two years with an extension contingent upon future funding. A key task of the incumbent of this position will be to help determine whether ASAP will remain a project of ISC or a stand-alone legal entity in its own right; accordingly, the nature of this position will largely be driven by the outcome of that process. ISC anticipates remote supervision for this position
This position is located in Montpelier, VT or Washington, DC. Travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and further development of the American Society of Adaptation Professionals, a newly formed professional society that seeks to foster climate resilience by investing in the human resources needed for the challenge;
- Provide professional strategic and business planning support for the ASAP Executive Committee, a team of six senior level practitioners (external to ISC) that serve the Society on a purely volunteer basis;
- Provide project management for the development and delivery of membership services including a Society web presence, in-person and virtual member events, and other program aspects;
- Provide assistance and staffing to current and future ASAP Working Groups;
- Develop and manage contracts with external contractors and consultants to facilitate key Society objectives;
- Represent the Society in professional settings for purposes of membership recruitment, building strategic alliance, securing additional resources and representing the interests of the growing adaptation profession to key audiences;

Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a related field;
- Five years of relevant professional experience including, preferably executive management experience, experience in a start-up environment, and some knowledge of climate change adaptation;
- Program design and implementation experience;
- Successful fundraising and business development experience;
- Demonstrated ability to work with remote supervision
- Strategic and business planning experience;
- Willingness and ability to travel;
- Commitment to the ISC mission and goals.
