Description

Principal Consultant:   Up to £55k + benefit package

Senior Consultant:   Up to £32k + benefit package

Location: Edinburgh (preferred), Cardiff, Cambridge, Oxford or Dorset

APEM Limited is Europe’s largest specialist aquatic science consultancy, offering our clients an integrated approach to every aspect of the scientific study, investigation and management of freshwater and marine habitats.  With over 25 years’ experience we operate UK wide as well as internationally, and our scientists are recognised experts in their fields.

As a company we pride ourselves on our commitment to scientific and client service excellence.  This is an excellent opportunity for a high-calibre, motivated and commercially-minded scientist to join our growing team.

As a result of APEM’s continued growth we are currently seeking a Senior or Principal Consultant to join our growing limnology team, based preferably in Edinburgh but our Cardiff, Cambridge, Oxford or Dorset offices will also be considered.  The limnology team is currently working on numerous high profile lake nutrient budgeting, lake restoration, catchment management, reservoir management, water quality modelling and ecology projects throughout the UK.  You will be a specialist in one of these areas, will be highly numerate and literate, as well as being able to adapt to work of varying technical requirements.

If you are an applicant with academic, regulatory or third sector experience you will be able to demonstrate your ability to apply your skills in a commercial consultancy context.

Senior Consultant Grade

You will be qualified to BSc or MSc level, and have relevant aquatic consultancy experience in a commercial and customer-focussed environment.  As well as having strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and great attention to detail, you will have experience of managing people and projects.

Principal Consultant Grade

You will be qualified to MSc or PhD level, and have significant aquatic consultancy experience in a commercial and customer-focussed environment.  As part of the senior management team you will be involved in setting and delivering the business strategies for your team.  You will be experienced in marketing, business development, client and team management, and project delivery.

With strong organisational and motivational skills, you will be able to manage/deliver projects to a high standard, on time and within budget.  Although you will be primarily office-based, site visits and client meetings are likely to be required and therefore a full driving licence is essential.  Progress within the role will be limited only by your ambition, and by your ability to deliver.
