Description
Opportunity to use your political nous and campaigning skills to help Greenpeace protect and preserve the precious Australian and Pacific environments. Permanent Canberra-based opportunity.

When Julia Gillard became Prime Minister, she quickly promised no more dirty coal power stations would be built in Australia.  And yet, a $100 million grant from the federal government is using our taxes to finance HRL - a new brown coal power station in Victoria's Latrobe Valley.

Greenpeace is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that uses non-violent, creative means to protect our environment, and promote green solutions.  To meet these challenges we need to hold governments and corporations to account and create the political will to change government policies.

The Senior Political and Business Campaigner is a critical role within Greenpeace Australia Pacific with responsibility for leading, developing and delivering the political and related business strategies of our campaigns both in Australia and the Pacific.

The demonstrated ability to achieve environmental campaign objectives with a special focus on political outcomes is essential, as is a detailed understanding and knowledge of campaign political and related corporate issues across the region.

In addition to having a detailed knowledge of the political and legislative systems in Australia and the Pacific you will have a demonstrated ability to lobby effectively and develop networks and a commitment to the ideals of Greenpeace.

As well as the opportunity to make a difference on crucial issues, Greenpeace offers employees a supportive work environment and a real commitment to life/work balance.  We also encourage staff to develop new skills, take on challenges and get involved in the wider organisation.
