Description

The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF)—the world’s leading think tank for science and technology policy—seeks a senior policy analyst for its clean energy innovation policy program. The successful candidate will analyze and develop recommendations for domestic and international policies that have the potential to accelerate or impede climate and clean energy innovation. The duties will include authoring original and secondary research in multiple formats and presenting findings at public events and in private settings. The analyst will be an active member of the policy and advocacy community through collaboration with other organizations and personal networking.

The analyst must be passionate about driving the energy transition through innovation. The analyst must have robust knowledge of clean energy and climate innovation policy issues, a network of professional relationships in the field, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a record of publishing policy-relevant analysis. The program will consider applicants with specialized knowledge in any area but has a particular interest in those with expertise in regional economic development or the application of digital tools to clean energy and climate challenges.

The analyst will report to the director of ITIF’s clean energy innovation policy program.  The position is funded with philanthropic support until December 2022 and is renewable contingent on further funding.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on climate and clean energy innovation policy.
  • Write and present clear and incisive policy analyses in a variety of venues and formats, including reports, conferences, op-eds, one-on-one meetings, and social media.
  • Engage in respectful but spirited dialogue with colleagues who have diverse viewpoints and backgrounds.

Qualifications:

  • Keen interest in and robust knowledge of clean energy and climate innovation policy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with expert and non-expert audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on analytical products in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Graduate degree in public policy, energy technology, or a related field.
  • Three years or more of relevant experience.
