Natural Resources Wales

Senior Policy Advisor Onshore Oil and Gas and Emerging Energy Technologies

Location: Flexible

Salary: £41,653

Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week

At Natural Resources Wales (NRW), we maintain and enhance the environment and natural resources of Wales. A Welsh Government sponsored body, our role is to ensure our natural resources support the economy of Wales and help to make the people in the region healthier, wealthier and better informed about their wellbeing choices.

As Senior Policy Advisor Onshore Oil and Gas and Emerging Energy Technologies, you will play a major role in achieving these objectives. You will lead our approach to onshore oil and gas and study the implications of new technologies.

As well as providing technical support and advice to internal colleagues, you will collaborate with a diversity of external bodies. These include the Welsh Government, UOGO (Office of Unconventional Gas & Oil), Natural England, DECC (Department of Energy & Climate Change), the Environment Agency, SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency), Defra and academia. Working with these organisations, you will develop the advice and guidance provided by NRW to people and businesses in the Welsh oil and gas sectors.

An environmental degree, or equivalent, and project management experience are essential for this pivotal role. You will be an excellent communicator, able to present complex information to non-technical audiences. A good working knowledge of EU, UK and Welsh legislation governing oil and gas exploration is also necessary, as is the ability to manage risks associated with this activity.

For further details, contact Sarah Williams on 07786 198463 or email sarah.williams@cyfoethnaturiolcymru.gov.uk.

To be considered for the role, forward your expression of interest, demonstrating your suitability to recruitment@cyfoethnaturiolcymru.gov.uk.

The closing date for applications is 17 October 2014. Interviews will take place on 7 November 2014
