We are seeking a senior Researcher to conduct and lead underpinning research into soil quality, spatial distribution of soils in the landscape, and methods for mapping, modelling and quantifying soil diversity. This is an exciting and varied role with considerable autonomy for a leading-edge specialist in this field. If you enjoy contributing to the development of future research directions, whilst being part of an innovative and supportive environment, then this position may interest you. A suitably qualified person is required to contribute to research on pedology, characterisation of New Zealand soil resources, soil survey methods including digital soil mapping, hydropedology, and applications of soil data to issues related to intensification of land use. The successful applicant will hold a PhD or equivalent degree, with 5-10 years experience in a relevant area of research, and an excellent record of research. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of pedology and assessment of soil quality, experience in conducting fieldwork, and evidence of ability to publish in leading international journals is required. Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research is New Zealand's foremost environmental research organisation, and specialises in the sustainable management of land resources, optimising primary production, enhancing biodiversity, increasing the resource efficiency of businesses, and conserving and restoring the natural assets of our communities.
