Greenpeace is looking for a talented, driven individual to join our Online Strategy Department as Senior Online Strategist. This is a results-oriented position reporting to the Director of Online Strategy and is responsible for helping develop and then ensuring the implementation of Greenpeace's overall online strategy. The Senior Online Strategist will manage a fast-paced team of professionals who work across the organization to raise money, win campaigns, engage supporters and grow the supporter base using the organization's tactical and strategic objectives as a guide. The position requires an overall understanding of digital communications technology (i.e. social media platforms, basic content management systems, CRM's, SMS, and web management) with at least five years experience in email list-building, database management and segmentation, online to on the ground organizing and online fundraising. RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Online Strategist's duties and responsibilities will include the following elements:

  • Assist the Director of Online Strategy in the creation of a comprehensive online strategy to achieve the organization's objectives and then oversee the implementation of that strategy at the output level;
  • Collaborate with the Campaign and Program Teams to ensure that online resources are being used in the most strategic way possible to help win campaigns and achieve organizational objectives;
  • Work closely with the Development Department to create a multi-channel fundraising strategy to raise more money and acquire new donors;
  • Manage a fast-paced team of online professionals;
  • Coordinate with the Communications Department to ensure consistent branding and messaging across Greenpeace's online communication channels;
  • Constantly analyze the data generated by online work and use that knowledge to guide both strategy and implementation of online tactics;
  • Lead major internal as well as external projects that affect the organization;
  • Keep current on best practices in online strategy and new technology opportunities for Greenpeace.

REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants must possess these qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of online campaigning/organizing experience – including email writing and list building, database management and segmentaiton, online to on the ground organizing and online fundraising;
  • A history of creating online strategies that result in winning major campaign victories and raising money;
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with at least 3 years experience managing teams in a campaigning environment and/or leading large projects;
  • Proven email and online writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail;
  • Expertise in online platforms and tools such as Convio, Wordpress, Facebook, Twitter, Google Analytics, etc.;
  • A deep understanding and commitment to testing and data analysis;
  • Excellent planning skills. Able to work with multiple teams, set and review goals, assess risks and outcomes, and analyze data.
