SUMMARY

Skelly and Loy is seeking an individual experienced in surface and underground mine planning with a thorough understanding of coal and construction aggregate mining.  Individual must have a strong work ethic, Acan do@ attitude, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.  Candidate must be able to work with regulators; work in an internal and external team environment; be responsive to client needs; and capable of managing project activities, time, budgets, and personnel. Some travel involved. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Examine maps, reserve deposits, drilling and other geologic information in order to determine the viability of mining operations
  • Complete mineral reserve assessments including quality and quantity aspects using software tools
  • Coordinate work of technicians, engineers, scientists, and other project personnel
  • Prepare schedules, reports, and estimates of costs involved in completing project assignments
  • Prepare project reports
  • Project management
  • Personnel management
 REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Computer skills including proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experienced with Carlson Software, a plus
  • Prepare and understand discounted cash flow analyses
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Time, resource, and material management
  • Responsiveness to all client requests
  • Ability to work on multiple project assignments concurrently while adhering to schedules and budgets
  • Ability to work on projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism from clients and supervisors
  • Ability to prepare and evaluate surface and underground mine plans
 QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering or related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience
  • Professional Engineer
