The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is a core member of the NPI (New Product Introduction) team. He/she plays a key role in the research and development of Solaria’s next generation of production processes, machines, and equipment and the continuing optimization of its current generation of processes and equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • With the larger team, designs next generation of production equipment; participates in equipment vendor qualification and selection.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Works collaboratively with equipment vendors to realize equipment optimization goals; performs equipment buy-off function.
  • Serves as equipment and process “expert” to subcontract manufacturers; training personnel and providing guidance and oversight, as needed.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; establishing maintenance procedures and protocol; training equipment maintenance engineers, as needed.
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding operators and technicians.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering in relevant field
  • 5+ years relevant experience, preferably in semi-conductor or solar module manufacturing
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of software programs
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in diverse, engineering teams
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Passion for solar is always a plus

Domestic and international travel required.
