The WWF Tigers Alive Initiative (TAI)

The mission of the WWF TAI is to help double the wild tiger population to at least 6,000 by 2022, through conservation in 12 priority landscapes.

The Tigers Alive Initiative is hosted by WWF Malaysia in their Petaling Jaya office close to Kuala Lumpur. The Senior Manager, Operations & Finance will be part of the multi-national core team of the Initiative mandated to lead and coordinate the Initiative across the WWF Network and in partnership with TRAFFIC.

This exciting position offers a unique opportunity to make a tremendous impact in the conservation of one of the most magnificent species in the world. It is a dynamic role, allowing for constant interaction with various levels of people within and beyond the WWF-network. It is a challenging role, requiring one quickly learn and adapt to new developments in the financial processes of the network. The role requires an ability to keep track of the TAI activities in many parts of the globe and provide reports (both finance and non-finance) to the wider network. This is a fulfilling position, with the added bonus of travel to some of the most unique landscapes in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Tigers Alive Initiative (TAI) leader and the TAI programme by managing the high level financial and operational aspects of the programme, to maximise operational synchronisation between the activities and the projects of the TAI with the aim to increase operational efficiencies and effectiveness across the programme.
  • To support the TAI leader and other relevant stakeholders, on a smooth and effective implementation and progress reporting of the TAI’s Operational Plans and the day-to-day running and management of the TAI.
  • Timely and effective Financial Management, including annual budgeting, planning, funding, monitoring and periodical reporting to ensure optimal flow of funds and that operational structure of projects / programmes are in accordance with WWF Network Standards as well as donor requirements.
  • Assist on the Monitoring & Evaluation of the implementation of the TAI’s Strategic Plans to WWF International, Shareholders Group and Shareholder Executive Team (technical and financial aspects).



Requirements

  • University Degree in an appropriate subject (business management /finance /economics, accounting)
  • More than five years of financial/project management/accounting within an international organisation or multinational company will be an advantage
  • Developed financial management/accounting skills are essential
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to set priorities, complete work with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines
  • Confident, self-starter with excellent organizational skills is essential for the position
  • Advanced PC skills, particularly knowledge of MS Project, MS Word and MS Excel software
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency (spoken and written) in English. Other Asian languages would also be a strong asset
