Description

College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences

Exeter is one of the UK's leading research universities with 95% of all eligible staff submitted to the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise and almost 90% of our research recognised as internationally excellent. By combining quality profile and intensity the Times newspaper currently ranks Exeter 15th in the UK for research excellence and the Times Higher describes us as one of the "rising stars among research intensive institutions". The people whom we are seeking to appoint will therefore be innovative researchers who can demonstrate the potential for research funding and international quality publications.

The post of Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Marine Renewable Energy will contribute to extending the research profile of the research group at Exeter, particularly in areas related or complementary to oceanographic wave and current measurement and analysis; wave modelling and resource assessment; hydrodynamics and computational modelling. The group has an international reputation in resource assessment and ocean measurements, moorings and installations and reliability analysis. With substantial research income from EPSRC, Europe (FP7) and the Regional Development Agency, and a lead role in the PRIMaRE research initiative, the group has exceptional experimental and computational facilities and has contributed to the recent UK and European marine renewable research initiatives. There is close cooperation with development companies through Technology Strategy Board and Carbon Trust funded projects and also with the Wave Hub development in SW England.

The successful applicant will hold a PhD in a relevant area and be able to demonstrate an internationally research profile in a field relevant to existing Exeter strengths. The successful applicant will have a strong record or demonstrable potential to attract research funding; teamwork skills to work in collaboration with existing group members and an active and supportive approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research that will help to foster interactions and links both within the University and externally; the aptitude to develop familiarity with a variety of strategies to promote and assess learning and enthusiasm for delivering undergraduate programmes.

The full range of necessary skills and experience can be found in the Job Description and Person Specification document http://www.admin.ex.ac.uk/personnel/jobs/R10249.pdf

The closing time for completed applications is 12 noon .

The University of Exeter is an equal opportunity employer which is 'Positive About Disabled People'. Whilst all applicants will be judged on merit alone, we particularly welcome applications from groups currently underrepresented in the workforce.
