The Senior Industrial Engineer plays a key role in optimizing Solaria’s production processes; identifying and realizing cost savings and efficiency opportunities and analyzing and reporting data essential for accurate production planning and forecasting. He/she uses his/her expertise in the field to develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
Responsibilities:
- Establishing capacity ramp plans (space, equipment, labor, logistics, materials) in coordination with Manufacturing Engineering and Logistics/Planning and tracking progress to completion
- Improving cost models, working with Mfg Engineering and Finance teams and maintaining systematic tracking of factory costs
- Analyzing data, simulating scenarios, and translating into valuable information that facilitates decisions by Operations and Plant Management
- Performing equipment UPH, material usages, and personnel efficiency studies to develop work standards
- Performing line balancing algorithm for optimum flow, and planning utilization of facilities, equipment , materials, and personnel for maximum efficiency of operations
- Analyzing workflows, product flow, lay-out optimization, manufacturing schedules for the improvement of cost indicators.
- Reviewing production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
- Estimating production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of product design changes on expenditures for management review, action, and control.
- Drafting and designing layout of equipment, materials, and workspaces to illustrate maximum efficiency using computer assisted design tools.
- Improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
- Applying statistical methods and performing mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards
- Studying operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities
- Completing production reports, purchase orders, and material, tool, and equipment lists.
- Ensuring currency of engineering as-built drawings and documentation of production equipment.
- Regulating and altering workflow schedules according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times to expedite production operations.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. Masters degree a plus
- Minimum of 8 years of related Solar and/or Semiconductor IE/Capacity planning experience.
- Familiarity with relevant building and health and safety codes
- Hands-on expertise in Excel spread sheets with Macro capability for smart what-ifs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated Auto CAD and/or Solidworks capability
- Statistical Process Control expertise
- Proven ability to contribute successfully in fast-paced, scale-up environment
- Passion for solar is always a plus
