Description

An enthusiastic, dedicated, professional and responsible person is required to provide efficient horticultural services to Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden.

Appointment requires a National Diploma in Horticulture or equivalent qualification, supplemented by at least Two years relevant working experience.

The successful candidate will be tasked with:
• Develop maintenance plans for estate, hard landscapes and lawns • manage the estates, machinery and vehicle for the garden support services • develop, review and implement the working Environmental Management Plan for the nature reserv • establish and maintain ‘threatened plant' collections and partnerships • assure quality of horticultural research • assisting in expanding and maintaining the living plant collections • assisting in developing and maintaining landscaped areas • managing the undeveloped areas of the estate • supervising the drivers and the lawnmower team • apply Health and Safety Principles • manage staff and collecting plants from the field.

In addition to the aforementioned requirements, you demonstrate the ability to maintain sound interpersonal relations and have an excellent spoken and written command of English as well as a passion for working with a diversity of people; you should not hesitate to apply. Knowledge of MS Office is essential, have a valid Code B drivers licence with at least one year's practical driving experience.

SANBI offer an annual salary of R117 501 per annum and additional fringe benefits, which include attractive medical and pension schemes.
