The Environment team has expanded rapidly over the past few years and brings together a wide range of knowledge and capacity in order to provide solutions to the variety of issues related to the environment. Our expertise covers a wide range of environmental areas including soil, water, air, wastes and noise and our consultants have an in-depth knowledge of environmental technology, legislation, regulations, management systems and communications.

The Environment team based in the historic Dean’s Yard and The Santuary in Westminster is expanding to meet an increasing workload for a range of private sector clients in the UK and international markets. In particular, we provide a high quality consultancy service in the renewable energy (e.g. offshore windfarms, onshore wind farms, marine current turbines), where typical services are Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), scoping and feasibility studies, terrestrial survey, grid connection studies and consenting advice). We also have a strong reputation for projects at the water’s edge, for instance in ports, dredging and coastal management.
Job description
Environmental team player to provide a significant senior role in guiding and developing expertise in projects involving: technical freshwater science, London region work, projects for public sector (e.g., Government, local authorities). Will also involve technical input and project management. Proposal preparation and Client liaison/communication important. Opportunities to assist the Freshwater Market Champion in business development.

This post forms a Senior part of the team working towards the overall business strategy for the “Freshwater” market. Some of the key tasks to be undertaken in this role include:
    Projects:
  • To deliver high quality advice and report output in projects in the UK market; some opportunities for work outside the UK if desired.
  • As part of a project team, assist in the delivery and project management of environmental consultancy projects.
  • To provide technical/project advice and assistance to more junior staff
  • To make an active contribution to project work which can be expected to include: report-writing, overseeing and organising data collection and survey work (within personal areas of specialism), data and literature review, development of monitoring programmes etc.
  • To effectively review our reports for Client in line with the Royal Haskoning Quality Assurance (ISO 9001) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).

    Leads and Proposals:
  • Help foster leads, contact potential team members and prepare documentation.
  • To lead proposal preparation.

    Marketing and Business Promotion:
  • Contribute to co-ordinated development of new business.
  • To represent and promote Royal Haskoning within the environmental market through the preparation of literature, attending meetings, conferences and workshops etc.

    General:
  • Work towards improved personal development with training and guidance within the person’s specialities.
  • General support, as required, to the environment team.
  • Carry out any duties which your line manager may reasonably request within the broad parameters of your role.
  • A high standard of professionalism is required with relation to projects work. This will primarily involve recognising the needs and pressures of Clients

    Qualifications & Experience
  • Undergraduate and Masters degrees in relevant disciplines.
  • More than 7-years previous experience; consultancy experience advantageous including participation in several relevant projects.
  • Knowledge and experience of involvement of London regional markets, EIA a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to bring one or two technical specialisms that will complement the existing team, for instance:
    • Water Framework Directive policy work
    • Knowledge/experience of the Environment Agency
    • Working with local/city authorities in London
    • Government
    • Financial sector.
