AMEC Earth and Environmental Inc. seeks a motivated professional senior fisheries scientist to fill a full-time salaried position in its growing fisheries practice in Bothell, Washington.

    Accountabilities
  • Reports directly to Natural Resources and Planning Manager
  • Communicates directly with clients or other project managers
  • Directly involved in business development and strategic planning
  • Prepares and reviews written cost proposals
  • Performs, manages, and monitors field investigations; manages and mentors staff
  • Oversees project budgets, schedules, and work progress
  • Writes and reviews project deliverables
  • Makes technical presentations to clients, regulators, and other professionals

    Qualifications
  • PhD or MS in fisheries biology or closely related field
  • Minimum 15 years experience in fish ecology of Pacific Northwest, California, or Alaska
  • Proven previous management of mid- to large-scale projects ($500k +)
  • Well developed research, management, and analytical skills related to salmonids
  • Working knowledge of fisheries field equipment and sampling procedures
  • Well-grounded capabilities in data management and statistical analysis
  • Familiar with current management issues involving marine and freshwater fish ecology
  • Strong knowledge of ESA, Clean Water Act, Washington Hydraulic Code, NEPA, SEPA, Local Shoreline Master Plans, and other federal, state, and local regulations affecting fish.
  • Established network of professional and client contacts and resource agency reps
  • Project experience: stream and marine baseline surveys of fish populations and habitat, water quality monitoring, Biological Assessments, Environmental Assessments and Impact Statements, fish management plans, environmental compliance, and mitigation monitoring
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed computer skills (MS Word, Excel/Access database management, GPS/GIS)
