Successful fisheries outreach is at the heart of the MSC program and is vital to driving participation in the MSC program and facilitating fishery improvements to achieve healthy oceans for future generations.

Our China team are currently looking for a dynamic, highly organised, technically able Senior Fisheries Outreach Manager to successfully deliver our Fisheries Outreach Program in China. We are looking for an experienced, keen advocate of our oceans and sustainable seafood; someone who is committed to making a lasting contribution to sustainable fishing around the world.

The role will involve working with the China fisheries and seafood sector, so you will need to combine a knowledge of marine and fisheries issues with a thorough technical understanding of this fascinating sector.

Who are you?

You'll:

  • Be qualified to degree level or have equivalent experience in fisheries or marine conservation;
  • Have excellent knowledge of fishery management and the fisheries sector in China, including experience of working in the East China Sea sector;
  • Have previous project management and stakeholder engagement experience;
  • Have experience of leading and inspiring a small team;
  • Be fluent in spoken and written Mandarin and English.

The Senior Fisheries Outreach Manager must be a strategic thinker, a keen planner, and able to engage with and communicate technical concepts to a wide range of audiences. A real self-starter, you will have exemplary influencing, negotiating and problem-solving skills and the ability to remain composed in high-pressure environments.

Through our internationally recognised certification and ecolabeling programme well-managed sustainable fisheries are recognised and rewarded in the market place, through the leadership of our partners. Critically, other fisheries are incentivised to improve their performance to meet the growing demand for certified sustainable and traceable seafood choice. Over 400 fisheries around the world, representing 17% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC programme and over 1200 documented improvements to the way our oceans are being fished have been recorded.  MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 100 countries.
