This is a key post within our client's new national centre of excellence for environmental planning based at Bath. Duties will be wide-ranging and this appointment is an opportunity for the right candidate to develop their role in the business according to expertise and experience. Duties will include:-
• Undertaking planning and environmental policy research for development projects.
• Preparing planning and environmental feasibility reports for clients.
• Preparing reports on sustainability issues.
• Editing and drafting Environmental Statements and Non Technical Summaries for development projects.
• Liaison with clients, regulators and local authorities.
• Liaison with and project management of specialist environmental consultants.
• Undertaking site visits and meetings on a national basis.
• Preparing reports to support planning applications.
• Negotiating solutions to planning and environmental policy issues with a variety of stakeholders.
• Management of the Group's carbon reduction strategy across the company’s six regional offices.
• Undertaking other planning and environment related duties as required.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate is likely to have a degree in either one of the Environmental Sciences or Planning, with experience in managing the planning aspects of a range of environmentally sensitive projects, as well as capabilities in the fields of sustainability assessment and environmental management.  Knowledge of current planning and EIA legislation are essential and experience within a UK utility company will be an advantage.  Good telephone communication, interpersonal skills and report writing abilities are essential.
