This role is to lead and direct teams of Environmental Consultants and specialists on behalf of the Principal Environment Manager and the Director (Projects) on a variety of projects in a variety of sectors including primarily infrastructure & Industry.

The Job

Principal Accountability -

Lead projects financially, to programme and meet deliverable requirements

Monitor team performance against project quality plans and take necessary corrective action.

Assist in the development of staff to ensure the safety of staff, and others, affected by the operations of Tata Steel Projects (TSP)

Lead projects on behalf of clients as directed

Undertake:
• Environmental Risk Assessments, Appraisals
• Environmental Management Plans
• Sustainable Design Plans
• Site Waste Management Plans
• Green Travel Plans
• Consent Issues

in accordance with clients’ requirements.

Secure business by developing and maintaining contacts with clients.

Monitor project performance against contracts and take necessary corrective action if required.

Monitor procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff, and others, affected by the operation of TSP.

Support TSP Environment Team’s involvement with Sustainability consulting, advice on use of materials, BREEAM and CEEQUAL assessments.

Achieve the targets agreed with the Principal Environment Manager regarding the effective delivery of projects to current environmental and safety standards within the agreed timescales and budgets.

Knowledge and experience -

A good environmental degree is required.

Membership of an environmental organisation (e.g. IEMA) is desirable.

Sound knowledge of Environmental Issues and Problems.

Knowledge

• Good knowledge and experience of environmental management and assessment
• Good knowledge of Assessment Tools
• Knowledge of project management

Competence and skills

• Good environmental management and assessment experience
• Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
• Awareness of contract conditions
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrate working/communicating across teams within the company to ensure delivery of projects
• Self-motivated team player. Able to work with the minimum of supervision
• Commercial awareness
• Computer literate – specifically Word, Lotus notes, Microsoft Office packages
