Atkins has been voted the top environmental consultancy for five years running in the Edie Awards. We plan, design and enable projects, keeping environment and sustainability at the heart of many projects we deliver. Atkins’ Ecology and Environmental Assessment team works in partnership with diverse internal and external clients to deliver innovative solutions on a variety of challenging projects. We are seeking to recruit an experienced consultant/senior consultant to provide environmental assessment and management advice to a wide range of clients in both the public and private sectors.

The Ecology and Environmental Assessment team is currently working and bidding on a wide range of projects in a range of sectors, especially Energy and Mass Transit, where Environmental Assessment and Management inputs are required. The projects are in the UK (Olympic 2012 venues, Crossrail, Transport for London/London Underground, M25, National Grid) and overseas, including the Middle East where we have a well-established track-record in HSEIA’s and the conduct of environmental baseline surveys with national and international petroleum companies.

Support, in delivering projects and developing our Client base in these sectors, is required at an Environmental Consultant or Senior Consultant level.  This will provide additional capacity to implement our growing workload in the co-ordination of Environmental Assessments (EAs), Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), Environmental Monitoring and Environmental Auditing, and to strengthen our marketing effort with respect to new clients and activities such as underground gas storage.

The position requires a good degree, and preferably an MSc, in an Environmental Science, and a demonstrable track record in EAs and/or EMPs. The work will involve a variety of tasks with the private and public sectors in the UK and internationally.

For a senior appointment, you will contribute to the growth of the team, providing leadership in project delivery, the development of best-practice, client care, business development, profile-raising and mentoring of junior staff. You will be expected to identify, develop and pursue new business and marketing opportunities in a range of sectors working with other members of the team.

This position is a permanent position subject to an initial three month probationary period.

The post will be based in our Epsom or London offices, while candidates with suitable rail experience and interests would be expected to work in the Atkins Rail office in Croydon from time to time. You may also be expected to work overseas for a number of short to medium periods in each year.
