Senior Environmental Compliance Manager

This opportunity is with a large transportation organisation and has line management and functional accountability for three members of staff. The dimensions of the role are:
· responsibility for environmental strategy, policy and management system development
· improvement of external communications with the environmental regulators and in particular the Environment Agency, the Department for Transport and Environmental Health Office at the local Borough Council
· improving external communications with the relevant environmental stakeholders through local forums
· maybe acting as the Subject Matter Leader across other locations on select environmental issues and may be asked to chair issue working groups where this is the case
· maintaining internal communications across the whole of the local site
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree educated or equivalent with strong relevant experience of environmental management
- Ideally a member of chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) or equivalent professional body
- Proven leadership capability  
- Exceptional relationship management  and support building skills  (inc managing and gaining the engagement of key stakeholders)
- Experience of managing relationships with the environmental regulators
- Experience of influencing and managing stakeholders
- Experience of working in a customer service orientated and process run organisation
- Understanding of the issues associated with working within a regulated industry such as aviation, utilities, transport or construction is essential
