The successful applicants will, with the support of the wider team, be involved in all areas of our work, supporting the delivery of positive change for our clients, communities, and planet, across a range of project types and sectors. With a focus on carrying out habitat and species surveys, you will have the opportunity to help clients deliver biodiversity gain through development.

Whether you are already an ecologist or looking to move up this position will provide you with an opportunity to grow and build experience in survey, effective communication including with a range of stakeholders, influencing/negotiating skills and report writing within a supportive environment. With a focus on regional site work there will be a requirement for travel and occasional overnight stays as part of these roles.

To be considered for the role, you will as essential criteria:

  • A full clean UK driving licence;
  • A degree or equivalent qualification (N/SVQ Level 5) in Ecology or a related subject.
  • Hold one or more Natural England (or other equivalent) protected species licence and/or hold Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) Level 3 or above.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in ecological consultancy or equivalent sectors.
  • Understanding, and experience in the application, of UK environmental legislation and policy;
  • Experience in ecological field survey work (including to UKHab), report writing (including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, management plans and Ecological Impact Assessments), and development of mitigation measures.
  • Experience of effective working with clients, contractors, sub-contractors and/or third-party stakeholders.
  • Experience in the management and delivery of high-quality and timely project deliverables, including where appropriate resource management.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or equivalent professional body with professional code of conduct.

Applications are particularly welcome from ecologists who meet the following desirable criteria:

  • At least one Natural England (of other equivalent) protected species licence preferably Bat Survey Level 2 (or above) or GCN Survey Level 1 (or above) licence.
  • Be able to be a named ecologist on mitigation licences.
  • Botany as a specialism.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience.
