Our client is a leading environmental consultancy providing services to a range of clients, particularly developers, utility companies, and the renewable energy and rural industries. They are now seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their successful team.

You will have atleast one European Protected Species Licence

The Job

The Senior Ecologist will manage the delivery of key ecology contracts and provide consultancy and mitigation works in a fast moving, client focused commercial environment. To meet the Ecology Team targets including taking part in sales activities to grow the ecology business in the East of England.

Key responsibilities:

Project Management and Technical Delivery

  • Manage the delivery of project work on key electricity, water and development contracts, including managing the deployment of staff, equipment and time issues.
  • Co-ordinate ecological contractors and technical experts (both internal and external)
  • Prepare specifications, review and manage delivery of work completed by company staff and contractors
  • Undertake a wide range of ecological surveys and report writing including extended Phase 1 Habitat Assessments and protected species surveys and mitigation.
  • Lead and undertake more demanding ecological work.
  • Carry out desk studies, consultations, research, data management and analysis and report writing.
  • Liaison and attending meetings with clients and statutory bodies.
  • Lead and write ecological sections of Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Deliver work as efficiently as possible, meet agreed timescales/quality standards and personal delivery targets.
  • Work with financial contract manager to develop skills in the commercial management of contracts.
  • Take on commercial contract management of projects after 12 months.
  • Working as part of a team and building relationships with colleagues to ensure best use of skills and knowledge.

Sales and Business Development:

  • Working with the Ecology Team Manager to develop business with existing clients and to grow business with new clients in the East of England.
  • Identify target clients and client groups and approach for business development meetings.
