Job Summary:

Our multidisciplinary consultancy client is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Ecologist into their established Kent team.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record in ecological consultancy, with experience of surveying a range of protected species groups and a particular interest in Bat ecology.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside landscape architects, ecologists and arboriculturalists on projects ranging from small historical sites to large scale mixed development projects. You will join a close-knit and dynamic team where you will be encouraged to develop your own professional goals and benefit from an individually targeted development plan.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

The Senior Ecologist will:

  • Support the Head of Ecology in the management of ecology projects.
  • Take a technical lead and review all bat consultancy work.
  • Develop relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Coordinate and undertake species surveys.
  • Prepare fee proposals.
  • Attend client and design team meetings.
  • Coordinate ecological appraisals for medium to large scale projects.
  • Design protected species mitigation strategies and make licence applications.
  • Manage projects, write and deliver reports.

Qualifications / Experience:

The Senior Ecologist will:

  • Be degree qualified in ecology or related field.
  • Have demonstrable ecological consultancy experience.
  • Be a licenced Bat worker, with experience of surveying other protected species groups.
  • Have experience of preparing and implementing EPS Mitigation licenses.
  • Have excellent knowledge of wildlife legislation and planning policy.
  • Have project management experience and a track record of liaising with clients.
  • Be a Full CIEEM member.
  • Hold a full driving licence and have access to a car.

Our client’s current portfolio includes Ecological Impact Assessments and Habitat Regulations Assessments so applicants with experience in these areas are desired.  There is also an opportunity to provide consultancy services to the public sector e.g. Natural England, so experience in delivering public sector project work is well regarded.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward thinking consultancy, offering a very competitive salary and friendly working environment. For further information on this or any other related positions do not hesitate to contact Ruth on 020 7960 2557 or rcp@mattinsonpartnership.com
