Senior Ecologist 

Our client is a very successful specialist Ecology Consultancy firm with clients in both the private, public and voluntary sectors. They are currently looking for a Senior Ecology Consultant to join their London based team.

As Senior Ecologist you would be involved in all areas but with an emphasis on dealing with protected species. You would manage a small team of ecologists undertaking protected species surveys and assessments, and ecological Clerk of Works and Watching Brief roles on construction contracts. Contract Management, including being responsible for delivering high quality ecological consultancy services within budget and to meet deadlines. This may involve: liaising with clients, other consultants and consultees; acquiring data from third parties; organising and supervising sub-contractors and other ecology staff; preparing maps and writing and editing reports. Assist with the general running of the London/Sussex office, in co-operation with other staff. Help with the marketing and promotion of the company.

The project-based nature of our work means that there will be a requirement to undertake travel as is necessary to successfully carry out contracts. This may include overnight stays and, possibly, longer periods of working away from home.

Requirements for this role:

  • Relevant Degree plus be a full IEEM Member
  • 5 years relevant work experience, as a Minimum
  • Excellent fieldwork and report writing skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of Protected Species Legislation, expertise in bat ecology including being in possession of a roost visitor license plus knowledge of herptiles, badgers, dormice, water voles or otters.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience in EIA and mitigation methodologies would also be advantageous.
