Rockhampton is only 40 minutes from one of the most beautiful coastlines in Australia, with easy access to Great Keppel Island, a warm tropical climate and friendly local people.

We currently have an opportunity for Senior Ecologist with Central Queensland Flora experience to join our rapidly growing Rocky team. If you have a science degree, have strong skills in flora fieldwork and want to contribute to better management of Australia’s environments, you’ll fit right in. You will participate in a wide range of interesting projects within a supportive team environment, with great opportunities for learning and development.  You will also have the opportunity to work at other locations throughout Central Queensland.

Selection criteria

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or related discipline
  • Experience as a team leader and mentor
  • Demonstrated prior experience in field assessments, reporting and flora identification skills relevant to Australia (preferably Central Queensland)
  • Ability to undertake and/or supervise fieldwork in remote locations as part of a small team.  (Some projects will occur outside Rockhampton’s immediate locality and may require periods away from home, so flexibility and mobility is essential)
  • Demonstrated data recording, analysis and report writing skills
  • Skilled in interpretation of legislation and permits
  • A strong commitment to safety and safe work practices, and a determination to promote Ecosure’s safety culture
  • Manual drivers licence

The following skills and attributes would be highly regarded:

  • Experience within or around heavy industry
  • Knowledge of EIS principles and requirements
  • Strong organisation skills including time management, efficient work practices and prioritisation
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills

Please tell us how you can become part of achieving our vision by emailing a cover letter including maximum one-paragraph responses to each of the selection criteria and your resume to recruit@ecosure.com.au
