Job title: Senior Ecologist (Bats)  

Location: Glamorgan, Wales

Rate: £20,000 - £30,000 DOE

Job Summary:

Are you an Ecologist with significant bat experience, looking to join a highly regarded and established ecology team?  We are working with a successful multi-disciplinary consultancy to recruit a senior ecologist into their Glamorgan office where you will have the opportunity to develop your technical and commercial experience.   The role will involve a large proportion of bat work so a desire to specialise in this area is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

As a senior ecologist, your brief will include;

  • Project management, mentoring of junior staff, ecological surveys, report writing and review.
  • Production of license applications and associated management, including client liaison.
  • Ecological impact assessment and mitigation design.   

Skills and Experience:

To be successful in this post you will have;  

  • A relevant degree and demonstrable experience in ecological consultancy
  • Full MIEEM status. CEnv desirable.
  • CCW (NRW) and NE Protected species handling and survey license for bats essential. GCN and dormice licenses desirable.
  • Experience of providing input to Ecological Impact assessment (EcIA)
  • Detailed knowledge of development licensing procedures, impact assessment, mitigation design and monitoring, especially in relation to bats.
  • Good botanical knowledge and ability to undertake Phase 1s and NVCs.
  • Project management experience including financial management.  Commercial experience to include preparation of quotes/tenders/bids.
  • Full UK Driving licence. Access to own car desirable.
