Description

The role 

We’re looking for an individual, with strong ecological skills, to join our Fisheries and Biodiversity team in the Anglian region - Northern Area. 

The role will deliver area wide ecological initiatives and projects which focus on Water Framework Directive outcomes. Key areas are minimising ecological impacts from our own activities and delivering improved river habitats. 

You'll work with a mix of Environment Agency (EA) teams, external partners and consultants on EA and partnership projects. You’ll manage individual projects, advise on mitigation and management plans, mentor and train others. The job is always changing with new projects and partnerships to support and new things to learn. 

We are looking for someone with all round ecological expertise and interests. The job has a balance of office and field work. 

The team 

Our area covers the rivers Nene, Welland and Witham which run into the Wash and all the Lincolnshire rivers which flow to the North Sea and the south bank of the Humber Estuary – to just upstream of the Humber Bridge. 

The Fisheries and Biodiversity team provides technical advice and guidance both internally and externally, guided by our statutory responsibilities for environmental protection, improvement and regulation. 

We are a team of dedicated individuals who seek to deliver the best for the environment. 

Experience/skills required

You’ll have/be:

• good general knowledge of ecology and environmental legislation - applicants with a purely terrestrial ecology background will definitely be considered;

• proficient in project management and delivery;

• excellent communication and influencing skills;

• a strong team player .

You’ll strive to deliver excellent environmental outcomes. 

Additional useful information 

An ability and willingness to undertake site visits alone is required. A full driving licence is required. A lease car may come with this post.
