Job Responsibilities
Working in concert with the VP, Public Policy and Green Communities program staff to develop a cohesive public policy strategy to advance Enterprise’s mission related to sustainable communities and energy-efficient affordable housing, including as it relates to climate change and smart growth and transportation, including transit-oriented development

Ensuring legislation, regulations and new proposals that impact this policy portfolio are monitored

Developing relationships with key staff from Congress, the administration and related federal agencies and state and local elected and agency officials to advance Enterprise’s sustainable housing and community development policy priorities

Developing and leading outreach and relationship building strategies with key policy stakeholders and industry partners on sustainable housing and community development policy priorities

Developing defined outreach goals on sustainable housing and community development policy priorities for local offices to be incorporated into the performance management system

Supporting regional executives and impact market leaders by overseeing the coordination of briefings, meetings, tours, etc. with local stakeholders to improve relationships and advance priorities with governors, mayors, agency staff, city council members, state officials and others

Representing Enterprise at industry and coalition meetings that impact the sustainable housing and community development policy portfolio with other national partners

Conducting congressional outreach on sustainability as well as Enterprise’s overall federal policy priorities

Drafting testimony, letters, legislative analyses and advocacy materials.
Qualifications
An undergraduate degree with a graduate degree preferred and at least eight (8) years related experience in low-income housing, livable communities, green building, smart growth, and/or environmental .

Previous federal policy experience, including Capitol Hill experience, strongly preferred

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead, as well as work effectively as part of a team

Superior oral and written communications skills

Demonstrable commitment to improving opportunities for very low- and extremely low-income people

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment, often under stringent deadlines

Ability to analyze, synthesize and translate both verbally and in writing, complex information to influence the policy-making process and explain results to parties outside the policy arena.
